I was engaged by Principals to expand the visual system for Payap. To help bridge the distance between the existing Payap logo and the Bank of New Zealand's goals for launch —
Project ⎄
- Logo Update
- Pallette
- Positioning
- Messaging
- Type
- Motion
- Iconography
- Launch campaign
The brief was to create a modern visual system that stood out amongst other banking brands and target a youthful market. It needed to be able to complement BNZ's trademark navy blue if needed.
As only a word mark and typeface existed. The challenge was to create a system that could be applied to a variety of use-cases and implementations, from digital to print to activation. ◯
Mirrored wordmark pattern that could be blown up or warped, while evoking QR codes.
⏌The shapes could be animated into merging tetris-like blocks to create a variety of visual layouts to either blow up for layouts or shrink down for iconography.
— A mixture of abstract photography and local stock imagery was used to marry a more youthful tone.
Layout examples
⏌We incorporated a pixelated typeface to further the digital motif established by the wordmark.
The QR Pattern could be used with photgraphy punchouts.
Monochrome photography was used to blend into structural elements to prioritize copy.
Local stock imagery was used to keep budgets low for launch and could be tweaked to fall in line with the color blocking established in the styleguide.
App store and Social media implementations.
